Iyama Keeps Five Crowns!

  Iyama Yuta wins his second consecutive Tengen title. The final game of 38th Tengen title match was played on 29 November 2012 in Nagasaki prefecture. Iyama (B) defeats the challenger, Kono Rin 9-dan pro by resignation after 165 moves and defends Tengen title with straight wins by 3-0. He still holds five crowns: Honinbo, Tengen, Oza, Gosei and Judan. Kono 9p could not get his first Tengen title for five years.

  Game 1 (5 Nov) : Iyama(B) won by resignation
  Game 2 (16 Nov): Iyama(W) won by resignation
  Game 3 (29 Nov): Iyama(B) won by resignation

Hsieh Yi Min to Challenge for Women's Kisei

  Hsieh Yi Min becomes the challenger to Aoki Kikuyo for Women's Kisei title.
  In the play-off to decide the challenger to Aoki, held at the Ryusei studio of Igo-Shogi Channel on 17 December 2012, Hsieh (W) defeats Ishii Akane 2-dan pro by resignation after 122 moves. She will play for a return match against Aoki for Women's Kisei title match. The first game of the 16th Women's Kisei title match (three-match series) will be held in Hiratsuka city on 24 January 2013.

Suzuki Shinji Wins His First Pro Tournament!

  The final game of the 7th Hiroshima Arumi Cup was held on 18 November 2012.
  22 year-old Suzuki Shinji 3-dan pro defeated 15 year-old Ichiriki Ryo 2-dan pro by resignation after 181 moves. Suzuki won his first official title.
  The Hiroshima Arumi Cup is the knock-out tournament for young pro players. 16 players compete.

Three Young Pros Made Singing Group and Released CD&DVD!

  Takanashi Seiken 8 dan-pro, Seto Taiki 7dan-pro and Hsieh Yi Min Women's Hoinbo have made a singing group called `Monotone' this year and it has released `I★Go' (CD and DVD set) on 7 December 2012. It goes on sale with 1,500 Japanese Yen.
  The `Monotone' has been introduced as the first-ever singing unit of the pro go players on TV go program on NHK (which is Japan's national public broadcasting organization).
