Iyama and Yamashita Play in Spain

  Yamashita Keigo 9-dan pro becomes the challenger to Iyama Yuta for Kisei title (Sponsor: Yomiuri Shimbun). In the play-off to decide the challenger to Iyama, played at the Nihon Ki-in on 14 November 2013, Yamashita (W) beats Murakawa Daisuke (Kansai Kiin) 7-dan pro by resignation after 144 moves. Yamashita will play for Kisei title match for the first time since 2010.
  The first game of the 38th Kisei title match will be held at a hotel `Parador de Alcalá de Henares' in Spain on 11th and 12th January 2014.

Mukai Wins First Title!

  Mukai Chiaki 5-dan pro won her first title, defeating the defending title holder, Hsieh Yi Min by 3-2 in the 32nd Women's Honinbo title match (best-of-five series).
  The fifth game of the Women's Honinbo title match was held on 27th November in the Nihon Kiin. Taking black, Mukai beat Hsieh by resignation after 251 moves and won her first Women's Honinbo title.
  Hsieh could not win her seventh consecutive Women's Honinbo title.

The full results of the series are given as follows:
  -Game 1(2 Oct.): Mukai (B) won by resignation
  -Game 2(7 Oct.): Hsieh (B) won by 3.5 points
  -Game 3(29 Oct.): Mukai (B) won by 3.5 points
  -Game 4(8 Nov.): Hsieh Yi Min (B) won by resignation
  -Game 5(27 Nov.): Mukai (B) won by resignation

Ichiriki Won First Title!

  The final game of the 8th Hiroshima Aluminum Cup was held in Hiroshima in 17th November 2013. A 16 year-old boy, Ichiriki Ryo 3-dan pro, claims his first title, defeating Fujita Akihiko 3-dan pro (current `King of New Stars' title holder) by resignation after 200 moves.
  Ichiriki won the 4th Okage Cup in May 2013 which is a non-official tournament of the Nihon Ki-in. Hiroshima Alumni Cup is an official tournament of the Nihon Ki-in for U-30 young players.

GLOBIS Cup! New World Tournament in Tokyo!

  We are pleased to announce that `GLOBIS Cup World Go U-20' will be held in May 2014.

・Venue : Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University
・Prizes : 3 million JPY for a winner/0.5 million JPY for a runner up
・Participants : 16 players with U-20 (as of 1st of January 2014) from Japan (6), Korea (3), China(3), Chinese Taipei (1), Europe(1), North America(1) and Oceania(1)
・Regulations       : - Double-elimination (from 1st to 4th round)
- 30 seconds per move with 10 extended thinking periods of one minute
・Schedule : May 9: 1st and 2nd Round
May 10: 3rd and 4th Round
May 11: Semi Final and Final
